Some of the features of the direct-pay BCBS of Alaska health plans for individuals and families include:
- There are separate rate scales for in-network and out-of-network.
- Alternative care such as chiropractic and acupuncture may be covered.
- Air and ground ambulance services are covered with no dollar maximum per year.
- Preventive care and immunizations are offered at no charge for up to a total cost of $300 per year.
Individual plans include a $500 deductible, $1,000 deductible, $1,500 deductible, and a $2,500 deductible plan. BCBS of Alaska also offers a high deductible plan for use with a health savings account and a short-term coverage plan. All plans are limited to residents of Alaska who are not eligible for Medicare.
