Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts offers the following types of affordable health insurance plans:

• Group health plans for small businesses, including traditional, PPO, and HMO plans

Some of the features of the direct-pay Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts health plans for individuals and families include:

• Separate rate scales for in-network and out-of-network, but flexibility to use doctors and facilities near you.
• Choice of plans, including those with or without a deductible.
• Choice of having a predictable co-pay or having a cap on expenses.
• Preauthorization requirement for many procedures.
• Additional prenatal, dental, or alternative medicine coverage.

Individual plans include a range of deductibles and co-pays. BCBS of Massachusetts also offers a high deductible plan for use with a health savings account and a short-term coverage plan. All individual plans are limited to residents of Massachusetts who are not eligible for Medicare.
